RESIN BOND GRINDING WHEELS

M.U.T. Multi Utility Tools Srl manufactures diamond and CBN superabrasive grinding wheels with resin bond, available in both standard profiles and custom geometries designed for the most demanding machining applications.
Our resin bond wheels are primarily intended for the mechanical engineering industry, but they are also widely used in sectors such as glass and ceramics, where highly wear-resistant materials require the use of superabrasives.
Suitable for most sharpening, grinding, and profiling operations, our resin bond wheels combine exceptional cutting performance with long tool life and excellent profile retention.
Thanks to a wide range of available bond formulations, we can recommend the most suitable solution for each specific application.
Depending on the machining process and the required surface finish, we can advise the ideal grit size, ranging from coarse grains for high stock removal to ultra-fine polishing grades for mirror-finishing applications.
For hardened steels and HSS materials, where diamond cannot be used due to chemical reactions with ferrous materials, we offer several grades of CBN (Cubic Boron Nitride), selected according to the machining process and machine specifications.
Our diamond and CBN grinding wheels are commonly used for:
- Manufacturing carbide and HSS cutting tools for woodworking and metalworking;
- Sharpening cutting tools, blades, and hardened knives;
- Manufacturing and grinding circular saw blades, planer knives, mill knives, paper knives, and similar tools;
- Centerless, cylindrical, and surface grinding;
- Internal grinding, honing, and CNC grinding operations;
- Grinding and squaring technical ceramics, conventional ceramics, technical glass, polycarbonate, graphite, exotic materials, and materials harder than 54 HRC;
- Sharpening broaches, gear shapers, and gear-cutting tools;
- Grinding inserts using CNC and manual grinding machines.
With more than thirty years of experience in superabrasive applications, our technical specialists can help solve even the most challenging grinding problems and optimize the use of diamond and CBN tools for maximum productivity and performance.
If a resin bond wheel is not the ideal solution, we will be pleased to guide you toward a more suitable bond system.
HYBRID BOND GRINDING WHEELS

Hybrid bond grinding wheels are primarily designed for flute grinding operations on carbide and HSS rods, allowing significant material removal in a single pass.
The compact structure reinforced with metallic or ceramic fillers enables excellent profile retention while continuously exposing fresh abrasive grains, providing an ideal balance between productivity and surface finish quality.
This bond technology is available in several versions, selected according to rod dimensions, grinding machine power, and production strategy.
M.U.T. Multi Utility Tools Srl provides complete technical support and optimized grinding parameters to help customers fully exploit the advantages of hybrid bond technology and improve manufacturing efficiency.
Recommended grit sizes generally range from D46/B64 to D91/B91.
Although hybrid bond wheels are mainly used in tool manufacturing, we have successfully applied this technology in many other industries with excellent results.
METAL BOND GRINDING WHEELS

Where extremely abrasive materials are involved or profile stability must be maintained over long production cycles, metal bond diamond and CBN wheels provide the most effective solution.
Metal bond is the hardest bond system available and therefore requires carefully controlled operating conditions and grinding parameters.
These wheels are widely used in serial production of cutting tools, profile grinding applications, and operations requiring extremely tight tolerances. Their electrical conductivity also allows profile generation through EDM processes.
Our metal bond wheels are extensively used in:
- Tool manufacturing;
- Glass and optical industries;
- Technical ceramics;
- Hard stone machining;
- PCD tool production and grinding.
Available in continuous rim and segmented designs, our metal bond wheels are developed in close collaboration with customers to meet specific production requirements.
VITRIFIED BOND GRINDING WHEELS

Over the years, M.U.T. Multi Utility Tools Srl has developed diamond and CBN vitrified bond grinding wheels capable of delivering outstanding performance even under demanding operating conditions.
The unique characteristic of vitrified bond technology is its exceptional resistance to high temperatures, allowing efficient grinding in applications where heat generation would quickly degrade other bond systems.
Diamond vitrified wheels are particularly suitable for:
- Grinding PCD and CVD tools;
- Surface grinding of ceramics;
- Grinding silicon-based materials used in semiconductor manufacturing.
CBN vitrified wheels offer an even broader range of applications, allowing aggressive stock removal rates, high peripheral speeds, and increased feed rates while maintaining excellent dimensional accuracy and surface finish.
Typical applications include:
- Manufacturing and sharpening gear-cutting tools such as power skiving cutters, gear shapers, broaches, and hobs;
- Grinding crankshafts, camshafts, and special shafts;
- Grinding spindles and tapers;
- Manufacturing and grinding punches;
- Internal grinding of blind and through holes, injectors, and tubular components;
- Surface grinding and creep-feed grinding operations.
An important advantage of vitrified CBN wheels is that they can be dressed directly on the machine using dressing rollers or diamond dressers, minimizing downtime and maintaining optimal wheel geometry.
Our technical team will be pleased to assist you in selecting the most appropriate vitrified wheel and establishing the correct operating parameters.
ELECTROPLATED GRINDING WHEELS

Electroplated diamond and CBN grinding wheels are the ideal solution for maintaining highly complex profiles while ensuring excellent dimensional stability and reliability.
Unlike other bond systems, electroplated wheels are produced through an electrochemical deposition process that firmly anchors diamond or CBN grains directly onto the metallic body.
This technology makes it possible to manufacture intricate profiles that would be difficult or impossible to achieve with conventional bond systems.
As long as the abrasive grains remain sharp and active, the wheel maintains consistent performance. An additional advantage is the possibility of wheel regeneration: the worn abrasive layer can be removed and replaced through a new electroplating process, significantly reducing costs for large-diameter wheels by preserving the original wheel body.
Electroplated wheels are highly versatile and can also be used for machining softer or more ductile materials that are difficult to grind using other bond technologies.
